The subject of this thesis is different interpretations of the history of Bohemia as viewed by the Czech and German authors, taking into account their origins and the associated nationalistic and commune-influenced attitudes. It is quite interesting that historians and other authors dealing with Bohemia's history present different interpretations depending on their attitudes to the communities concerned. This thesis treats such differences in a systematic manner. We have found out that works of even the most renowned historians are not entirely free of nationalistic subjectivism. In presenting a brief outline of the history of Bohemia, we have tried to accommodate this phenomenon. In our description of the regional developments we have covered the historical period starting with the arrival of the Slavs in the 6th century until removal of the Sudeten Germans from Czechoslovakia after World War II, with special regard to different interpretations of the key historical events and personalities. Without seeking systematically the reasons for particular interpretations, the thesis quotes the most contradictory passages of the Czech and German historiography.
