La temporalité de l'image photographique est-elle entièrement déterminée par le moment de la saisie ? Par ce moment complexe que HCB a théorisé sous le nom d'instant décisif et que le savoir photographique continue d'analyser et de méditer après lui ? Ou bien peut-on découvrir et observer d'autres temporalités en elle ? La thèse propose une enquête sur la place de la photographie au sein de l'écoulement temporel ordinaire et sur la manière spécifique qu'elle a de participer à cet écoulement. Elle analyse dans cet esprit un ensemble d'oeuvres photographiques à partir, notamment, d’Eugène Atget, Walker Evans et Robert Frank. Elle se laisse guider aussi par un ensemble de concepts philosophiques du temps qui se sont développés comme critique du temps objectif spatialisé, le temps phénoménologique, la durée bergsonienne, la dialectique de l'instant bachelardienne. Faisant sienne l'hypothèse de J. Rancière selon laquelle la photographie est un medium qui se situe entre art et non-art, elle s'attache enfin à concrétiser cette situation particulière pour une certaine famille d'images photographiques en identifiant une poéticité que celles-là semblent contenir et qui se laisse approcher théoriquement en infléchissant plusieurs analyses consacrées, sans qu'elles fassent pourtant référence à la photographie, par M. Merleau-Ponty ou Valéry au phénomène de l'art et de la création.

Is the temporality of the photographic image completely determined by the moment of the shot? By this complex moment, which HCB theorized as being the decisive moment, and from which the photographic knowledge continues to analyze and to meditate about long after him? Or can we still discover and observe other temporality in it? The thesis proposes an investigation about the position of the photography within the ordinary temporal flow and its specific ways in which it participate in this flow. This research analyzes, in this regard, a set of photographic works, particulary from Eugène Atget, Walker Evans and Robert Frank. It is also guided by a set of philosophic concepts of time, developed as a critic of the objective time in space, phenomenological time, the bergsonienne duration, the bachelardienne dialectic of the moment. Reprising J. Rancière’s hypothesis of photography as a medium located somewhere between art and non-art, it finally attempts to concretize this particular situation for a certain set of photographic images by identifying poetry they seem to enclose, that allows a theoretical approach by bending several usual analyses, however without even making reference to the photography by Merleau-Ponty or Valery about the phenomenon of art and creation.

La temporalidad de la imagen fotográfica esta totalmente determinada por el momento de la captura ? Por ese complejo momento que HBC teorizó bajo el nombre de instante decisivo y que el saber fotográfico continua analizando y meditando? O bien se pueden descubrir u observar otras temporalidades en ella ? La tesis propone una investigación sobre el lugar de la fotografía en medio del paso del tiempo ordinario y sobre la manera especifica que ella tiene de participar en ese pasar. La tesis analiza en ese espíritu un conjunto de obras fotográficas, principalmente a partir de Eugène Atget, Walker Evans y Robert Frank. Esta se deja guiar también por un conjunto de conceptos filosóficos del tiempo objetivo espacial, el tiempo fenomenológico, la duración bersgoniana, la dialéctica del instante bachelerdiana. Haciendo suya la hipótesis de Jacques Rancière, según la cual la fotografía es un medio que se sitúa entre arte y no-arte, la tesis trabaja concretizando esta situación particular en una cierta familia de imágenes fotográficas, identificando una poética que parecen contener y que se deja aproximar teóricamente a varios análisis consagrados, aunque ellos no hagan referencia a la fotografía, de M. Merleau-Ponty o P. Valéry sobre el fenómeno del arte y la creación.
